DotNetNuke (DNN) is an open source web development platform for building websites using Microsoft .NET technogies and is written in VB.NET and distributed under a Professional proprietary and Community Edition license.  DotNetNuke is a content management system (CMS) that offers various extensions, customisations by its extensive library of skins, modules, data providers, templates and language packs.

DotNetNuke Architecture
DNN typically uses a 3 tier architecture module with a core framework that works with the extendable modular structure of the CMS, and allows additional functionality and extensions by pluggable modules.  The current version 5 of DotNetNuke requires ASP.NET v2 or v3.5 and IIS 6.0 but supports both SQL Sever 2005 and 2008.
